'Paper Fight' is a stop motion animation about two paper men who don't quite see eye to eye. They end up engaged in a dynamic Japanese fight which doesn't quite end up the way they hoped. This animation was made mostly with stop motion paper puppets developed by ourselves and 2D animation in Adobe AfterEffects.
The most challenging part of this process was definitely the stop motion aspect of it. We filmed this entire scene without using advanced stop motion software such as dragon frame. We actually really didn't even think to look for software like that. We plunged head-first into this process using only our eyes and personal judgment between shots to see if each shot flowed smoothly from the last picture. The fighting scenes, especially were challenging as it was important to us that the attacks be paper as well as the attackers. We ended up taking many green twisty ties from our local grocery store in order to be able to hold the characters and their attacks up properly.
